MESSAGE

Welcome to the Graduate School of Asia Pacific Studies.

Of my goals as Dean of the Graduate School of Asia Pacific Studies (GSA), supporting graduate education is one of the most important, both to me personally and to all GSA faculty. GSA offers a broad educational experience, and we are committed to fostering and supporting new generations of scholars who reflect the diversity of intellectual perspectives, life experiences, and cultures represented in our world today. Such diversity is a fundamental part of our educational and research excellence.
Your intellectual life will revolve around your program’s curriculum and the faculty and students in your cohort. Although there is a great deal to learn within the discipline that you have chosen to study, take the time to interact with faculty and students from the larger community of scholars at the university.
You have chosen to attend graduate school at a Japanese university located in the pristine nature of the Kyushu region. Oita Prefecture offers many unique cultural opportunities to experience the Japanese lifestyle, so make sure to make the most out of your time here as you advance your career goals.
