Paying AP House Fees

1. Paying moving in fees
  • Transfer the amount stated on the invoice to the designated university bank account by the deadline.
  • All residents are asked to pay AP House fees in Japanese yen.
If a resident cannot pay in Japanese yen, the University will accept the equivalent payment in U.S. dollars.
The amount paid in U.S. dollars will be converted to Japanese yen using the exchange rate on the day the University receives the payment. The necessary adjustments will be made once the student moves into the dormitory if there is a difference between the amount invoiced and the amount received.
2. Paying fees after moving in
  • On the first of every month, the monthly rent will be withdrawn from the JP Bank account the student registered with the University.
  • If the withdrawal cannot be made due to insufficient funds, the next withdrawal will occur on the 16th. If this day falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday, the withdrawal will occur on the next bank business day.
  • If the second withdrawal also fails, the resident must transfer the money by themselves and pay the transfer fee. Please check how to arrange for a bank transfer at an ATM.
  • If a resident fails to pay their AP House fees for two or more months, the resident will be asked to leave AP House.
  • The University does not accept cash payments.
  • After moving in, international students should attend a guidance session on opening a JP Bank account in Japan and complete the paperwork to have their AP House fees automatically withdrawn from their JP Bank account.
  • Residents are asked to have enough money in their account to ensure they will be able to pay their fees even when they will be gone for long vacations.

Paying moving out fees

1. Deciding when to move out

The University will determine when the resident will move out based on the information provided on their ‘Request for Moving Out' form.
It is not possible to prorate (calculate on a daily basis) your dormitory fees.

2. Repair Costs

A room inspection will take place when a resident moves out. Some stains and damages inevitably occur in the course of daily life. The resident is not liable for those types of damages, however, the resident will be billed if there is significant damage to the room such as a broken door, holes in the wall, or cigarette smoke residue on the walls.
(Example: Resident will be charged 80,000 yen if the wallpaper needs to be replaced due to cigarette smoke residue/smell.

3. Calculating the Security Deposit

Any unpaid AP House fees, as well as costs to repair any damages due to resident negligence, will be calculated and the total will be deducted from the resident's security deposit. The remaining balance, if any, will be transferred to the JP Bank account the student registered with the University.
It is possible to have the remaining security deposit amount transferred to an overseas account.

〈Residents who wish to receive their refund via overseas money transfer〉

  • A transaction charge of 4,250 yen will be deducted from the refund amount.
  • Submit your account information to Creotech by email.
